Will You be Ready When Opportunity Knocks?
God has a plan for your abundant and amazing life, but he’s waiting for you to get ready!
One of the most challenging parts of making big scary changes in life, like stepping out of one career and into your calling, is the innate desire we have as humans to know exactly what’s ahead right now.
I see this show up for my students in the Discovering Your Calling program, and I’ve definitely been guilty of it. (I mean, I’m that person who likes to know what’s for dinner as we are cleaning up breakfast!).
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. Only God knows EXACTLY what’s ahead for us and HOW we will get there. That part of the plan is for Him only. I know, not the answer you want! Most of us are control freaks, and we want to be in control of our future and know every step on the path! We need to accept the exact steps are out of our control.
What is in our control is being ready when opportunity knocks.

“God is in the business of strategically positioning us in the right place at the right time, but it’s up to us to see and seize those opportunities that are all around us all the time.”
You might be wondering, HOW?!
How do I get ready? How do I make sure I see and seize these opportunities??
Here’s the good news - it’s easy if you allow yourself to lean into these steps:
#1 Spend time learning your natural talents & gifts God put inside of you. When you do this, you will start to see and have ideas on how to use these gifts to find your “what’s next.”
#2. Get in a mental space of peaceful searching and possibility thinking. This is probably the MOST IMPORTANT step. Allowing yourself to replace “that’s not possible” or “that would never work” with “I wonder if this could work” and “how can this happen?”
#3 Be willing to say YES when that knock comes! Say yes when it’s scary, say yes when it’s inconvenient, and say yes when you're tempted to say no.
