A Mind-blowing Story of Manifesting Your Dream Life!
Manifesting what you want in life! Can it really work to create your dream life and career?
It’s woo-woo, out there and a little hard to understand. In 2006, we all learned about manifesting and the Law of Attraction from The Secret—remember watching that? Thousands of gurus are talking about it on YouTube and social media today!
I don’t understand it, but I also don’t understand electricity, how a cell phone can let me talk to my dad 1000 miles away in real-time, or how TV pixels travel through space—I trust that when I flip a switch, answer my phone, or turn on the TV, they will work!
It’s the same with visioneering and manifesting what you want—you don’t have to understand it to appreciate and trust that it works!
I’ve had two recent experiences in our lives that have solidified this in my mind…
The first story is about buying our most recent sailboat.
I mentioned this in a previous podcast, but in 2015, I wrote out a new “dream life” statement. This is an exercise I learned to do back in my NWM days, and I love to teach to my DYCA Clients. You take a journal and write out your dream life in detail. You include EVERYTHING - from career to relationships, where you vacation, where you live, what you feel and look like, etc. I mean super details - like where you will live, how it is decorated, what style it is, what your view from your porch is, etc. Listen to the entire story on the latest Discovering Your Calling podcast along with more tips for creating your Dream Life Statement.
This was the first year Tom and I were really seriously starting to talk about what life would look like when he retired from the FD and dreaming about someday having a big sailboat to travel on. The one thing I wrote that I want to share today was that we had purchased a 42-foot sailboat - that was the exact size of Libre, the boat we traveled on. The funny thing is, as I read what I wrote in my Dream Life Statement, I didn’t write about living on it full-time; we only did excursions and weekends! I think my subconscious knew we weren’t supposed to try to live on it! LOL
Did everything come true in my Dream Life Statement? Hang on to find out, but before I share that, I have one more super crazy manifesting story!
The second really mind-blowing story had to do with our recent move to the Delaware beach area.
Two years ago, we asked a real estate agent to show us around the Dewey & Bethany Beach area. We had vacationed in this area with our family and immediately fell in love with the towns, the vibe, and the ocean! We thought it might be a place to live after the boat excursion, and we wanted to explore what the houses and most important communities were actually like.
We toured about 4-5 different communities; one stood out to us: Millville by the Sea. It checked off a lot of our wants for our next home:
It had a fabulous community center with activities
Awesome pool for the grandkids
Onsite gym
Bike ride from the beach
The quieter part of the DE beaches
And homes were in our price range!
Fast-forward two years—after living on our boat, we realized it was time to sell it and move back to land. We still had our hearts set on the Delaware beaches area (Delmarva). I found us a temporary 2-month rental from March to April. Knowing we needed a year-long lease somewhere, I posted in a Bethany Beach FB group what we were looking for in a year-long rental (we wanted to be sure before investing in purchasing a home).
A few days later, I got a message from a woman named Laura. She was about to close on a brand-new Villa (fancy word for duplex) and wanted to rent it out for the long term, starting around May 1st! Perfect!
And it was located in… wait for it ….Millville by the Sea! The community we toured that checked off all of our boxes two years ago when we saw it with the real estate agent!! Double perfect!
Channeling a bit of Paul Harvey today, let me share the rest of the story with you…
Three summers ago, during our family's first-ever vacation to this region - we met Laura!!
It wasn't until a week before we moved here, when we met face-to-face again, that we realized our paths had crossed before. We looked at each other and exclaimed, "Wait a minute. Haven’t we met before?!"
My husband connected the dots - we had encountered Laura and her partner Bri on the beach years ago. They were fans of the Kenny Chesney music we were playing. Laura, who works in law enforcement, and Bri, a teacher, felt a natural connection to our family, particularly with our daughter-in-law, who is also a teacher, and my husband and sons, who are professional firefighters.
I vividly remember Laura joyfully playing with our grandchildren for hours on the beach. We bumped into them again while they were walking their dog, but despite these fun encounters, I had lost touch and never even asked them their last names.
So that, my friends, is the power of manifesting… and visioneering what you want in life.
I can't tell you exactly how everything came together— only God sees the path and ALL the pieces. I can tell you that sometimes, we need to trust the process. It’s like flipping on that light switch: trust that when you just put your goals out there, the universe does the rest to make them real. The journey might be full of surprises, but often, it leads us right where we need to be.
Now, back to the question: Did everything in the dream journal come true?
Nope—many dreams are still playing out. Some have changed directions, and others have shifted slightly… but as time passes, I can see where God is unfolding some of the dreams, just not how I pictured them.
For example, I wrote about my dream of becoming a National Sales Director -
I described the women who were my directors as faith-filled, ambitious, bold, courageous, confident, beautiful, tenacious, and hardworking.
These women wanted to live and work according to the philosophy of God first, family second, and career third.
They would be known for accomplishing much while still living fun and family-filled lives.
They desired to keep their priorities while working to their potential, and God has blessed our efforts!
As I reread that today, I realized God knew my path was not to become a National Sales Director in MK but instead that THESE women I described would become the clients I get to work with today as a coach!
